We had a busy September with lots of exciting activities for our care home.  We introduced Fruity Fridays where residents were invited to taste a variety of tropical fruit and then learn some facts about them.

Baxendale poetry group SeptemberWe also had a literary theme going on with both a creative writing session and our monthly poetry group.  In the creative writing session, residents chose a title to write a story about. Those that had not finished yet were impressed with their homework tasks where they will either start or finish their story in their rooms in the evenings!  In poetry group, they chose their title and wrote a poem based on their life experience. After we had all written one, the residents taking part sat in the garden with their tea and cake and read their stories out to each other!

We had a very interesting visit from Chas Taylor who gave a talk on the sport Boxing. Read about it here.

Finally, we had a pop quiz “Name that Tune”: different snippets of songs through the 50s, 60s and 70s for the residents to listen to and guess either the song’s title, the singer or both, which they enjoyed.
