November has flown by and we’d love to thank all the visitors, entertainers and staff who lay on activities for our care home residents.
We have been taking a few residents to the Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley for the Cinememories sessions on Tuesdays. We’d like to thank all the staff at the cinema with all they do to help the public with their free Dementia Cinema days. Truly amazing. The films are always special and it is lovely to hear our residents laugh.
Another highlight of November was when we had Kymberly Taylor visit us. As a guest speaker at our monthly coffee mornings, Kymberly spoke to our residents about midwifery. She is a senior midwife, bachelor of science and also a sign off mentor at Hertfordshire university. She spoke to the residents about how midwifery evolved from the midwife that delivered Jesus right through the medieval times up until 2018 and the differences in midwifery throughout these times. She also spoke about what it takes these days to get into midwifery, and the constant on-going study days that they need to do. The residents enjoyed listening to how midwifery has changed, asked questions and had stories to tell about their own experiences.
